Drammy Awards say Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! The PCTG Awards are here!

Dear Theatre Peeps!

As you all know, the Portland Civic Theatre Guild is the “parent company” of the Drammy Awards. So we like, each year, to inform our email listers (they hear first, so join them!) as well as our followers here on our newsfeed, Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms such as pdxbackstage,  as soon as the annual award applications are announced. These awards will be presented at the 2015 Drammy Ceremony in the Newmark Theatre (pictured above…thank you, Portland’5!) on Monday, June 29, 2015. We encourage interested parties to apply as soon as possible. Details follow.

Meanwhile, we thank you as always for your wonderful work, which we are enjoying all around the town.

Cheers, break those legs, and see you in the theatre!

Your Drammy Committee

For Immediate Release

The Portland Civic Theatre Guild Seeks Applicants for 2015 Awards and Fellowships and increases awards given to theatres.

The Portland Civic Theatre Guild is delighted to announce that this year we will give two Portland Civic Theatre Awards in Support of Theatre and increase the amount of the award to $4000. Applications for all awards are now being accepted. They are the Leslie O. Fulton Fellowship, $5000, the Portland Civic Theatre Guild Award in Support of Theatre, $4000, and the Mary Brand Award, $2000. All Portland area theatres and theatre artists are invited to submit applications.

The Leslie O. Fulton Fellowship, $5000, is directed toward theatre artists of high merit to sustain and enhance their creative process. This award is made possible by a gift from Neil Fulton in honor of his late wife, Leslie O. Fulton. She was an active member of the Portland Civic Theatre Guild. Mrs. Fulton initiated the PCTG Endowment Fund through the Oregon Community Foundation and its fellowships as a way to continue the legacy of the Portland Civic Theatre.

Fellowship applicants must be from the Portland theatre community in terms of official residence or professional activity. They must be active on a regular basis in Portland area theatre and recognized as a professional by their peers. Application deadline April 17, 2015.

The Portland Civic Theatre Award in Support of Theatre, $4000, is directed towards purchase of capital items. This year the Guild will give two awards of $4000 each. Theatres must be located in the Portland area. Application deadline April 17,2015.

The Mary Brand Award, $2000, is directed to individuals and programs that involve young people in theatre education as participants, observers, or students. The award honors Mary Brand who founded the Portland Civic Theatre Guild in 1958 as a way to assist the theatre. Among the programs sustained by Guild activities was the Portland Civic Theatre School which provided training to thousands of theatre students of all ages over several decades. Application deadline March 12, 2015.

The recipients will be chosen by selection panels comprised of theatre professionals and Guild members. Applicants will be evaluated in a variety of areas including excellence of proposal, feasibility of completion, and contribution to artistic growth of the applicant, theatre company, or program. Full details are presented in the application.

The fellowships and awards are offered by the Portland Civic Theatre Guild, a nonprofit group founded in 1958 as an adjunct to one of the nation’s  oldest and largest community theatres. The Guild presents the Portland Civic Theatre Guild First Tuesday Readers Theatre season at the Old Church October through May each year. In addition, the Guild sponsors the Drammy Awards.

Applications are available on the web at www.portlandcivictheatreguild.org For further information please contact Julie Accuardi at jaccuard@comcast.net
