Drammy (not really) nominations begin here!

So! I know you are all excited about the “rogue” nominations we plan to post! Did anyone guess, from yesterday’s photograph? Today’s should help more…

Here’s the thing. Whenever I go to the theater, I like to nibble on whatever is on offer before the show starts. And over the years I have come to have definite favorites. Yesterday’s photograph was of generic Blondie Bars…but for the REAL thing you have to go to Artists Rep. I’ll post a proper picture of the AMAZING Blondie Bars there (made, I believe, by Pastrygirl), with more details, next time I go to a show. But today, I’m going to start with the absolutely delicious $1 ice cream sandwiches at Lakewood Center for the Arts. I am NOT talking about the posh $3 Haagen Dazs offerings you can get there. I’m talking the cheap but fabulous soft and squishy outsides and creamy insides of the slurptious OUTSTANDING delicacy I love.

So there it is.

The great thing about this nomination process is that, as these delicacies essentially don’t change, I can also accept nominations from the public. Unlike live theater, where no show is exactly the same twice, or where not enough people can attend a given production for us to be able to accept outside nominations, these items are available always, during whole seasons. So we can do a true comparison, right?

So please feel free to send in nominations, with photographs. You can send them here, or to pdxdrammys@gmail.com, or the Facebook Drammy Awards page, or to my email address (Cate Garrison) if you have it.

And I should give photo credit where it is due. This ice cream sandwich was photographed by Drammy Committee member and outstanding artist of stage, word, and canvas, Tim Stapleton (taken with his phone). Thank you, Tim.

See you all at the theater (or the pre-show snack bar).

  1. “If life seems jolly rotten
    There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps
    Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing.

And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life… “
